Promote Student Achievement and Parental Involvement in Children's Education

Priority one of the Clay County School Board is to create and approve a balanced budget. Second only to that is to write policies that drive academic achievement and improve student outcomes. As a member of the School Board, I will promote high standards of learning by adopting policies that support our students ability to learn and our teachers ability to teach.  

 

Support Career and Technical Education (CTE)

I am the proof that Career and Technical Education is vital to our public schools. As a firefighter and state guardsman, I believe we need to allocate funds, resources, and expand of our CTE programs. I'm a firm believer that university and college education is fantastic for people who want to go that route but so are our trades. CTE is an opportunity that we need to afford and expand to our children.

Fighting Alcohol, Nicotine, and other Illicit Substance Use 

This generation of students are being faced with truly extraordinary circumstances. The easy availability of alcohol and nicotine products along with the surge in opioid and other illicit substance use has destroyed families accross this nation. I can make a 100% guarantee I will do everything in my power to prevent underage use and support prevention efforts. I cannot imagine loosing one of my children but that is a pain so many families are having to deal with because of people who don't act or turn a blind eye to these poisons.

 

Attract & Retain Highly Qualified Teachers

Teachers are charged with one of the most important duties in supporting our nation and society. That is educating our future generations. As a School Board Member, I will work with our district to support, hire, and keep our true public servants. I would work to make Clay County the most attractive district in the state to work and live as a teacher. By providing competitive pay, solid benefits, and ensuring teachers have the support they need to be effective in the classroom we as a society will be better off. 

 

Guard Taxpayer Dollars 

Clay County has one of the smallest tax bases of any top 10 Florida school district. I will ensure every dollar is spent properly out of respect for our students and teachers, and you, the tax payer. I will pose two questions for every proposed budget expedenture: How will it improve student outcomes? Is this a good investment in the interest of Clay County tax payers? Those two questions, will guide how I support the appropriation of your money.
